FOOD CPR - COMPOST. PLANT. REDUCE
Did you know? Research shows that Malaysians contribute to more than 16,000 tonnes of food waste daily, enough to feed 12 million hungry mouths three meals a day. The shocking figure continues to worsen during the festive seasons by 15 to 20 percent.

In an initiative to manage food waste effectively, Sunway Pyramid has invested in a food composting machine to convert food waste from tenants into compost.

“Sunway Group is committed to advancing the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, one of which is halving Malaysia’s food waste by 2030 – a pledge made by our local government. If we, the nation, continue at our current rate, this pledge would not be met. The ‘COMPOST. PLANT. REDUCE’ campaign is one of our clear commitments to changing food waste habits in Malaysia,” said HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks.

Together, we can reduce the amount of waste generated to our landfills for a more sustainable environment. Small changes can make a huge difference, and it starts with a few simple steps!
METAL STRAW CAMPAIGN
Plastic as a whole is a pollutant of which is known to not disintegrate even after hundreds of years.

This endangers several species on land and in the seas. Which is why we at SUNWAY aim to eradicate the usage of plastic, specifically, the usage of plastic straws.

This campaign aims to encourage the usage of metal straws over its plastic counterpart, as with every 2 receipts above a RM100 you can redeem yourself your very own metal straw!
RECYCLING STATION
With an ever increasing popularity, fast fashion is at its peak. People nowadays are constantly buying new clothes and discarding the old ones without a regard.

The problem in that is textiles such as clothing from these fast fahion brands use cheap, toxic textile dyes—making of which terribly pollutes the water.

At Sunway Putra Mall, we're strengthening our recycling game by partnering with Kloth Cares to set up a recycling corner in the parking lot on the first basement floor.

We can recycle the clothes we no longer use, donate them to the people in need instead of leaving them in a landfill somewhere.
SAVE THE EARTH, ONE PACK AT A TIME
The name 'CAREton' is a combination of the word 'CARE' and 'CARTON'.

The CAREtonTM Project is a Used Beverage Cartons recycling campaign by MILO® UHT and Tetra Pak that transforms drink packs into ‘green’ roofing tiles and panel boards for those in need.

Since 2012, the CAREton Project has contributed roofing tiles and panel boards sufficient to build over 150 homes for the Orang Asli communities.
